londonWhen I took a seat on a plane heading to London, I could hardly imagine what the future held in store for me. Don’t get me wrong: I knew that it was only a once-in-a-life-time opportunity.  I was one of the luckiest people who were singled out by my language school Image Education to make an amazing trip to the country of tea lovers, red-haired knock outs, posh British accent, Guinness beer and of course mind-blowing architecture. The real adventure that was meant to change my perspective on life was already awaiting for me there.

They say that in order to get a taste of the place, a real insight into the culture, you need to get off the beaten track and just head off in the opposite direction to everyone else. To tell you the truth, since I had always had my heart set out on the trip to London, I decided, however, to stick to the usual itinerary. I felt the need to capture the biggest sites that millions of tourists come to see every year. After all, there is a reason why so many people feel mesmerized by Big Ben, Buckingham palace, Trafalgar Square and so many more others. So, I made up mind to see all these sights for myself and I’ll tell you what- It was totally worth it!

Walking along the streets, passing through the buildings, I felt as if the city was a history lesson come to life. What struck there though was the sheer level of energy of the place: people running around the city doing some errands, hoards of tourists gazing with the wide-opened eyes at the attractions and cabs buzzing up and down like bees. I believe my travel companion and I made the most of the short time we had there by soaking up the local lifestyle and culture: we visited so many places, explored so many things that at one point I even caught myself thinking that we had enough adventures for a lifetime.

Even though, my trip was not all roses and rainbows, I am absolutely positive that London is not a carbon copy of umpteen other places you can find around the globe and given the opportunity to work its magic it can’t  leave you indifferent. So, study English hard, pack your suitcase and head off for adventures!
